I've seen off three or four front rims and the same number of back rims, and still my 2003 Dura-Ace hubs keep on turning, turning, turning. But....the rims are no longer available. Damn and blast!

The Dura-Ace WH7850CLR wheels look decent, and, having had such great service from the present set I'm inclined to go with these. The list price is £390. My problem is that my present rims have a deep section, and these, which are the modern equivalent the WH7850C50RC are almost twice the price (I'll probably get a decent break on the list of either, but the proportions will remain about the same).

Will I notice the difference? Will the alloy/carbon laminate combination of the WH7850CLR last?

I ride on all manner of roads and occasionally off road using GP 4Seasons tyres.
