Self made billionaire probably. I'd immediately retire and set about spending the rest of my life having a good time.

Mind you the lure of groupies might tempt me to be a rockstar.

If a fighter ace it would have to be a spitfire.

I've wondered about the 20 year olds that flew Spitfires. Did any of them think "Yes! I'll have some of that" in the same way a modern 20 year old lusts after a 1.2 Corsa like this one ?

Err, I don't think most of them lived long enough to even think about it.

I'd rather have flown in the more robust Hurricane anyway, or a Bomber (but NOT a ruddy Lancaster!), before becoming a pilot for BOAC flying Comets (without the metal fatigue issues, obviously), VC - 10s, Tridents with BA possibly and then Concorde with BA

As for the Lancaster and Spitfire - you'd think that nothing else mattered in the war and that those two aircraft types single handedly won it (with a little bit of help from the Yanks, obviously), I mean, honestly! :boxing:

It was just one single Spitfire that saw off the entire Luftwaffe in 1940, whilst all the Hurricane Pilots just sat about twiddling their thumbs was it not??^_^

'Tis like the whole Titanic thing at the moment. You'd think that no other boat ever sank in the history of the universe.

I thought the Mustang effectively won the European air battle? And the Russians certainly won the European ground war for us.

I meant that the way people all go on about it, you'd think that these two planes won it all.

As for the Mustang, I am no military historian, so I cannot really comment, but I know there was a LOT more going on than peoplle seem to remember.

Yes and the Russians had a big part to play too.

Anyway, I don't subscribe to the whole Spitfire mythology.

I am on an iPad here currently, and it seems to do strange things like that. I HAD written people, but for some reason, unnoticed to me, it changed it.

What does dpele mean anyway??

Fighter pilot - To me, being a fighter pilot would be the best, everything about it. You might have to do 7 hours of briefing and all just for a 1 hour flight, but it'd be so worth it.

Next would probably be a billionaire and I'd set up my own motorcycle racing team, and be the rider. I don't understand these people that have won 10's of millions on the lottery, buy a big house, nice car, then sit on their arses watching jeremy kyle saying they're bored! I'd be doing something, every single day without fail. Whether it'd be travelling around the world, or buying some nice cars/motorbikes for me and a few friends and having a road trip to the Nurbugring/around europe. Just anything!

Sorry about the little rant.

If I have that, then anything is possible.
I'd settle for that!

(Having £70k to clear my mortgage and a couple of other debts would be a great help though, so if there are any generous Euro-lottery millionaires among us who could spare 7,000 crisp new tenners, you know where to find me!)
