Thanks guys, I'll sleep on it. Do blue bib shorts go with blue top, or Black shorts with blue top?

Rule 14

You're new, here you go http://www.velominati.com/the-rules/ - don't take these seriously except rules 5, 9 and 12.

Get along to Aldi and Lidl - both have just had cycling events so loads of cheap gear - just bought a jersey for a fiver.I've bought gear from Aldi that I wear more than top end branded gear that cost 5 or 10 times the price

Sportsdirect have these which look ok for £7.50 - short sleeved tops.

As for pedals these are excellent and cheap at this price.

Think if you're staying on budget use Aldi and Lidl - cheap and mostly surprisingly good value.

When I got a road bike the one thing that made the most difference was the cycling shorts, I cycled with the default flat pedals for almost a year. I would invest in the shorts/jersey/gloves before going for the shoes/pedals.

Use ebay. Research carefully. Buy second hand stuff. Lots of people richer than you (and me) take up cycling and buy themselves all the gear then sell it hardly worn when the initial enthusiasm wears off!
