Don't know whether this should be here, or in Health and Fitness.

Anyone got any experience of whirlpool baths? I'm talking about a normal bath with whirlpool facilities. Fad that you got bored of or useful?

We have a bubble mat run off a pump hung on the wall (yes, designed for the job, not some botch-up!). However the mats only last for a limited time, and we can't find them any more, so are looking to get a whirlpool bath instead.

Wife uses the mat regularly, and tries to persuade me to use it after a long ride. Have done occasionally.

^_^

Can't you just eat beans 1/2 an hour before your bath?

I've only used them when staying in hotels. Everytime I end up switching off and enjoying the silence. If the pump was housed elsewhere or in a sound proof box I might reconsider but for now I would avoid due to the noise.

I tend to much prefer deep warm baths of still water.

Sorry, but we've found somewhere else.
Do you have one, then?

Noise is not a problem. Our current pump is pretty noisy. Its very much about massaging those tired muscles.

We had one put in when we did the bathroom a few years ago.

Hardly used and you need to run a bath with baby disinfectant through it to clear the tubes now and again.

My favourite thing after a long ride (or garden work) is to use the steam shower. Nothing like standing in 40+ degrees of steam for 20 minutes followed by a relatively cold shower.

Depends on what you're looking to spend, a whirlpool bath will move the water and make a lot of bubbles, if you want a hydromassage you need to look at something like Jacuzzi, some models have the jets positioned to target particular areas of the body, but they're a lot more money. It's high volume at low pressure that's important, not having loads of jets

What is this "bath" you keep mentioning? Is it anything like mine?

Iv got one and I love it, although I have to agree its a bit noisy. The pressure can be adjusted, as can the direction of the jets. And it needs a run-through with Milton steriliser tablets every couple of weeks to keep it fresh.I wouldnt be without it tho:biggrin:

Ah, but could you wash your Lego in one? ^_^
