This is not just food porn...
Ah but I'm sure I heard 2p for us occasional diesel car commutersNot an advert but still big companies trying to raise their profile....
Yesterday on the radio at work the newsreader read an astounding piece of breaking news, Sainsbury's, Asda and Morrison's have announced they are knocking a penny off a litre of fuel...... I heard this repeated on the regular news bulletins throughout the morning as if it was somehow important and amazing!
Is it just me or does 1p off a litre costing around £1.30 (I think?) matter even less than what I have just eaten for tea? I mean, 1p! Please come back and tell me when it is 5p or 10p, 1p is mere noise compared to the daily and weekly price fluctuations and while it may be significant to the profit of a multi-billion pound oil industry it matters not one jot to the typical man in the street. It is simply another crass attempt to jump into the spotlight while actually doing or announcing nothing and the news agencies should treat the press releases for such things with the contempt they deserve....
