Anybody also have a problem with whistling's basterd love-child - humming?

Yup - that and the other little b'; earworm vocalising.

Had a builder round pre-Covid who sang the same bloody tune for a few days solid.

I'm more of a hummer/singer than a whistler. In fact I can't remember the last time I whistled. I guess it depends on personality maybe? My Grandad was a lovely man and very content..you'd always hear him whistling around the farm. And he could put two fingers in his mouth and whistle for Britain, it was so loud, but then he did work with dogs.

One story, which I love hearing, is years ago when my Dad and Grandad were building their house. They had an electrician in whilst they were doing other building bits. My Grandad was whistling the match of the day theme tune all day long. At the end of the day, the electrician turned to my Dad and said "someone likes match of the day then!" It still makes me laugh 🤣
