Whitby Goth Weekend

To my delight, & surprise, Joanne is still positive about a visit to the Goth Weekend
I've been wanting to get there, to either event for years

Generally, one of us has been working
- her covering staff, who are off
- me not able to get leave, or swap shifts
- Amelia's at Choir

However, this year, we've sorted it out

'Up to press', we're going up on Friday evening
Then, trying a (Tex-Mex?) diner she's told me about, & stopping at the 'Shed' (ie the 'Posh Porta-Cabin')

Saturday we'll drive up, & spend the day/evening in Whitby
A spot of over-nighting, at the 'Shed' again, then driving home Sunday morning

Julia, & Hazel (sisters), a couple of friends of mine are involved with organising some of the parties there, & have very kindly offered us 3 guest-list places
(I've known them since about 1986, when they first went Goth, when it first really started as a 'scene')


They have suggested, because generally I've only see them at the Hospital recently, they'd dress as Nurses for the party
Now, I've seen the photographs of the pair of them dressed as Nurses, at one of their parties, whooo-boy!!!!....................................

Sounds good, my aunt & uncle rarely miss a goth weekend. Great fun by the sounds of it. Always enjoy his photos particularly the Real Gothic FC matches. Never made it there myself yet.

Visit 6 Royal Crescent!

This was the accommodation of a disillusioned and downhearted manager for a failing actor was recovering from a badly attended tour.

He spent a couple of weeks walking around the town, and this planted the seeds for a book

The manager was Bram Stoker and the novel Dracula

Ahh, but does that really reflect the (shall I say?) original Goths, who have been around since the mid 80's, or the Steam-Punkers?

Surely that's more to do with the 'Emo', & its offshoots?

Be carefull with parking there. There was something on the tv a while back saying that the moped parking mafia are out in force and free parking is very limited.

Goth weekend is great fun! Don't miss Hands Off Gretel, they are cracking. Therapy? are class as well, better live than on a CD.

Not really into Goth music, but I did go to see Sisters of Mercy, a couple of times, in the mid-late 80's (& Spear Of Destiny)
I was more into rockabilly (still am, as well as country), & used to go see Restless, PoleCats, Guana Batz, etc.....

Restless played last year, at a club less than a mile (as Crow flies) from me
I didn't find out about it, until 3 days before, & had promised to drop-off/pick-up daughter at a concert at Leeds Arena the same night, so missed them
