Some I know from my running club decided to do this. I think he trained for 8 to 12 weeks and then fought a bout against someone. He was over fifty, which is getting on a bit to take up a sport like that. I have been told that you have to dress up smart if you want to spectate. Weird. I have seen some flyposters about calling it traditional white collar boxing - what's traditional about it?

I take it you know the first rule.......

When I was working in London I went on s course about how to deal with violence and aggression

Explaining how difficult it was he selected a young female and explained how if he became aggressive she would be unable to prevent a physical assault

Her knowing smile and pointing out that she was an amateur cage fighter seemed to spoil his example

My oldest daughter holds black belts in TKD, Karate and Muay Thai, and does a spot of white collar boxing. Fortunately for her (or unfortunately in every other regard considering she's a girl) she's 6'1/2" tall, and built like her Dad, so tends to outclass the amateur office wannabes.

Yes, its true. She started boxing with me when she was 8 or 9, coming along to the club with me and initially getting informal training. After a while I got wind one of my neighbours was in to TKD and he also started to take her training with him.

I started in the Army - "you, you're a big f***" r. Gym, tomorrow at oh nine hundred" said the Colour Sergeant, and that's how it started for me. Too late in life to ever be really good.

I am (or was) a moderately competent boxer and always struggled to spar with my lass because of her speed and target acquisition skills from martial arts.

She's very interested in combat sports, and has unusual height and build for a girl which, combined with her speed, makes her a natural at the speed/strength sports. She was British ladies TKD inter club youth champion in 2004, and was a prospect for national competion before a series of foot operations interrupted her training.

We both tried aikido and wing chun, and neither of us enjoyed it. We're both built for thumping and kicking stuff. Throughout, she's always continued boxing training, workouts and drills for the fitness, but never seriously competed. She got into the white collar stuff as she's a business owner and was asked to put a poster in her window, thought she'd give it a go herself.

And yes, I've done white collar boxing, just the once - police v trumpton for a children's charity - and I was moderately competent. One of the BTP guys, Vic something or other, was ex pro. If you're not a woos weight and can fight cruiser or heavy then I'd be happy to spar with you some time, show you what a moderately competent boxer looks like.

I went to Fight Club last week. I missed the start but had a great time and I thoroughly recommend Fight Club.

please you're all size, no speed or skill, you'd be puffed out before the end of round one ;), I would be super middleweight in pro terms but I'm in reasonable good shape, train on the bag 2 or 3 times a week and can jab and move all day long but there is a height and reach difference which can't be taken lightly but I'm still confident ^_^
Just boot him in the goolies first :okay:
