White line mishap

I must have tempeted fate. 2 mile pootle to a mate's in the rain, 15mph or so + greasy white line = road rash, bruised hip, and a slight groin strain! Went down like a sack of spuds on the low side - so much for visualisation/preparedness...

Walking is sore, but riding was OK this morning. Funny how you notice every bump when your missing skin on your hands...

My last 3 offs have not involved another vehicle: wet leaves, wet cobbles, and a wet white line. Even I'm starting to see a pattern here.

I have 4 pairs of cycling gloves, but for this trip I was in civvies and taking it easy. Sods Law that I should come off when I'm not wearing them.

I do need to slow down more in the wet - but I struggle to remember this...

I take it, as you didn't mention any head injuries, that you were wearing a helmet.....

Hitting the tarmac is useful - it is good to be reminded, from time to time (not every week though) of your vulnerability...

No head injuries - extrapolate from that, what you will

Cheers for pulling me through those couple of miles last night.

Left me knackered. Obvious I'm only half as fit as you. Especially seeing you cycle off at twice my speed!

Oh yeah, my bike! Slight buckle to the front wheel, couple of paint chips, one track nut cross-threaded on impact, and superficial scrapes to Brooks saddle and Carradice SQR Tour bag.

If you see me tonight, you can give me a tow - I'm taking it easy...

Slow down in the wet - take it easy cornering ! You never know what the surface is like.

Bad luck C of G. Glad you're not more seriously injured.

Did it happen on the right bend between the two sets of traffic lights about 20 metres apart, just beyond the tube station? I've seen someone else go down there - carrying too much speed into the corner, braked, and then went down as the road snakes left.

Cycling scars are badges of honour, but it's best not to have too many!
