Who built this bike?

I have the chance to buy this bike from a workmate for the price of a pub lunch.........I have no idea what it is.......he's told me it's in rough condition and is a non runner......so i'm thinking get it, and rebuild into a hack/winter bike using my spare bits box.

Can anybody share some info.........and is it worth the £20 petrol costs to go and collect it?

There's not really enough information to make an informed decision.

Take a punt you could probabl;y recover the £20 by breaking the bike for parts.

Thanks Vernon, i'm working from the same info.....just the pic......my workmate knows jack about bikes......i've googled loads of possibles and nothing comes up......i'm looking at the pic and thinking early to mid 90's (alloy stem and seatpost coupled with oversize tubing) originally downtube shifters upgraded to early sti's (possibly Sora's)
no back brake, no front derailleur, so could even be a mix and match half started, half finished fixie project. It's a mystery
