Gave it a miss today. The main roads looked fine, but the side roads were still pretty white.

Temp is looking to dip below zero overnight and then perhaps some rain, which could mean black ice, so I've settled on the bus for the rest of the week. I'll make it to my Xmas hols without breaking the bike this year

I cyclled today and yesterday - but tomorrow is looking a little chilly on metcheck. I will see how i feel in the morning, but will probably give the bike a miss. The last 2 days have been pleasant, cool but dry.

Cycled in as usual but saddened by the news a work colleague has thrown in commuting by bike lark as he says he can't handle it anymore.

Ye great jessie, I cycled in today and passed a bloke in shorts. Mind you the light snowfall on the sides of the roads was a bit disconcerting

Walking the dog by bike is a bit fraught these days - the path is covered in frozen snow, which has been made into a surface like ice cobbles by people's and horses' feet. Very difficult to stay upright on.

Been cycling all week, though. 98% of my route to work is bus route and is well salted.

I have been rinsing off religiously, though. We have a giant sink in our workshop at work (like a small bath, really). The amount of grey goo that comes off is horrifying.

And then when I wash the bike...

It wasn't too icy this morning: there was a fair amount of cloud and I think it had dropped a bit of sleety rain overnight but had kept the temperature up enough to stop too much ice forming.

There was one bit that looked very dodgy this morning - experience has taught me that it generally is slippy there - and it was. It's right at the top end of the bridleway I use where there's a right-left-right kink to detour round the start of the new bypass, before the bridleway heads off in its own direction.

It's off camber, wet, slopey and slippy even at the best of times and it was all pretty and glistening this morning. I straightlined it by going on the grass to avoid the left hand corner on the track and took it very slowly but it was still all wheels in all directions.
