I've got an Asda delivery coming this afternoon. Xmas stuff. I know some people tip the delivery guy but I don't.

Restaurants
Hairdressers/Barbers
Grocery Delivery
Takeaway food delivery
House removals
Taxi
Uber
Gardener
Handyman
Bar staff

From the above, I will tip the Restaurant waiter, the taxi and I think I tipped the Removals team years ago when we last moved. The others...no. I like Ubers for many reasons, one of which is there is no tip expectation. I might let the bar staff keep the change if it's a modestish amount

Note, this is standard service. Not some Xmas box pressie to someone who offers year round service (like the paperboy)

Are the supermarket delivery guys allowed to take tips. I thought any cash gifts were frowned on in these companies.

No one... although if I'm with a group in a restaurant and someone suggests adding a tip, I'll chip in, but for the most part we pay for what we ate/drank and adding a tip doesn't cross my mind, so i don't.

Taxis I'd round it up to the nearest pound... but i haven't used a taxi for years.

Takeaway deliveries... I use to round it up to the nearest pound in the old 'pay the driver' days, but these days i pay online and tipping the delivery driver doesn't cross my mind (I've been waiting god knows how long and all i can think about is eating).

A surprising number of restaurants seem to have stopped the "do you want to add a gratuity?" prompt on their card pay terminals.

Having said that, if I leave a tip it's normally a cash one, even if I've paid by card, to make sure it actually goes to the staff.

No.

Although people getting tips was not that uncommon.

Pay varies quite a bit. Some delivery drivers used to get £1.50 more than the minimum wage. Others get minimum wage.

Do All Bar One, still give your change back on a small silver dish. That used to annoy me.
Plus the toilet attendant in rubbish night clubs, i dont need or want someone handing me a paper towel.

Damn...i forgot about those. I go to Asia often on business and in upscale clubs, they have a guy who massages your shoulders while you have a pee at the urinal. First time this happens it's impossible to maintain the flow, you just sorta tense up. I have to tip these guys. Thankfully never experienced this service in UK
