When I'm home with my wife and family Sunday is nearly always a roast at sometime during the day. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My dream Sunday afternoon: a home made meal (a bit more continental than the above suggestions though ), then a wee siesta.
Sadly, I'm rarely off on a Sunday and the cat does not like garlic, so a big oven cooked dinner would be a waste, would still be eating it on Friday

What would be the equivalent version of a roast dinner, in Italy?

An oven cooked pasta dish (like lasagna or pasta al forno) and crusty bread as starter, then a casserole, or grilled steak, with roast potatoes and salad.
Then you would have a homemade or patisserie bought cake :hungry:

We do proper cooking most days. Mrs Dave is a fantastic cook and baker, I'm ok.
We lived with Jo's parents for about a year before we were wed and it was roast most days, it's all my MiL can cook!
As a result we only have roast a couple of times a year, Christmas being one of them. It's really good once in a while.

having had a proper sunday lunch the last two sundays, today i had my version* of a full english for 'sunday' lunch. But today i spruced it up with the addition of a few slices of halumi fried in the remnants of the bacon fat... bloody lovely!!!!

*sausage, bacon, poached egg (on a slice of toast or fried bread), black pudding, button mushrooms fried in coarse black pepper, no beans, no hash browns, no tomatoes.

We had "tornado steak" fillet with bacon fried in garlic, green beans, broccoli, salad and Duphonaise potatoes ( no spuds for me), with some velvety red wine. Lovely July!
