Bit odd that downgrading. Those pics look planet like to me. Nice and spherical with a spherical moon orbiting too. Anyway I didn't keep up with the arguments over its classification as such human imposed boundaries are fairly unimportant in the spectrum of the size of rocks around the sun.

It's because being spherical is only one characteristic of a planet. I get why they want it classified differently from the eight planets:

Just makes me think that we really aren't going to travel far in this Universe unless we find a short cut! Christ we are so slow...............

Some amazing photos are coming through. It already seems clear that, like Mars, Pluto is a small world with massive land features. A canyon deeper than the Grand Canyon, mountains over 3000 metres high, methane snow ... who knows what else will be discovered. But, for the time being, here's something to wet our appetites:
