No attitude, just pointing out they are two quite different types of risks covered by two types of quite different insurance. But of course you knew this didn't you.
Did you start reading his post half way through?
I have insurance through Evans. More for the third party liability if I was involved in an accident which was my fault. I don't consider myself an unsafe cyclist but I like to think my back is covered and i'm as covered as the other vehicles that I share a road with.
His insurance is provided through Evans, this answers the OP's question,
He then continues with the reason he chose that policy being more for 3rd party than theft.
personally my bikes weren't insured while I was at uni, they were locked up in the house when I wasn't in, had a krypto-flex that wrapped through the front wheel, through the fork and attached to the D lock that was through the rear triangle and rear wheel.
I tended to not leave the expensive mountain bike anywhere and that lived upstairs in the house outside my room but my landlord was a cyclist so he understood.
The thing to remember with cycle theft at uni, they're normally after something they can take quickly and sell easily for £20-£40 so if you make it a pain to take, it'll normally still be there - think about where you're parking it, alternating between two places, you want somewhere that has a constant stream of people for it to be hard to do anything, but not too busy that it provides cover for tampering.
some universitys have cycle lockers which could be worth looking into
if the insurance gives you peace of mind, £29 isn't a bad price.
