For me today it was a wee red-head; about 2 years old being pushed along in her buggy by her Dad in Irvine, Ayrshire.
I was out for a quick ride in the sun on my motorbike and I saw them on the pavement heading towards me, when the girl gave me a huge wave and a smile that would melt the heart of the SCP contributors (ok, slight exaggeration!). She got a big wave back - hopefully a friend of bikers for life now. Simple things are the best!

My dog. She made a series of perfect retrieves from Scammonden reservoir using a floating dummy. I also discovered she actually has webbed feet. That's quite a revelation to someone who has owned terriers and lurcher crosses for the last thirty years. Labradors, Newfoundland and various Spaniels share the characteristic apparently. My question is how the hell does evolution decide what would be useful? What is doing the programming?

You could have "made" a future cyclist, maybe a world champion, who knows?
... If you had been on your bike
If I had been on my bike (which, incidentally, I WAS last night - commuting in the rain!!!) she would probably have sneered and told me to get on the bike path at the side of the road coz I don't pay road tax or have insurance!

That's not evolution that's selective breeding.

I didn't know that. I will inspect my big smelly pals paws for webbing in the morning.
Mind you, he hates swimming, he's not a normal Labrador!

I used to live in Irvine, 1968 to 1971, it was a lovely place to live, have been back once in recent years and didn't recognise the place.
