There's a post from Admin explaining what really happened. I think it's on here somewhere....

do you mean transparency like this?

Dear trustysteed,

You have received a warning at Cycle Chat.

Reason:
-------
Insulted Other Member(s)

This is not really appropriate language or sentiment for the forum. We'd appreciate if you didn't resort to personal abuse when in disagreement with others.

twats.

Warnings serve as a reminder to you of the forum's rules, which you are expected to understand and follow.

I love the 'All the best', nice touch!

yep, that sort of transparency.
See #55 in http://www.cyclechat.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=45343&page=6.
"appropriate language or sentiment" comes under my classification of modding for the purpose of influencing "the way it's intended to be shaped". It doesn't come under my classficiation of modding for the purposes of removing "things that really cannot go".
But I don't point blank condemn the former. It may not be exactly akin to how I would mod, but I accept it, as I accept that a certain amount of 'shaping' is desirable, whichever direction it is in. It may not be a direction we agree with, but I'm coming round to the viewpoint that it's best to accept things we don't agree with. Sorry if that sounds a bit ...woolly.

Jeez, folks! Haven't we laboured this stuff enough?

You can't win. In one 'other place' I had a moan that the moderation wasn't enough. In another 'other place' I had a moan that the moderation was too heavy-handed and overbearing.

I should have known better. You can't please everyone. But CC are far better at the business than some.

Oh, and one more thing. To repeat the original wording of a moderated post, even in the manner in which it has been done above, would be an 'instant ban' offence in a certain forum I could name. But no doubt Shaun and the Mods are keeping a tight watch on this thread, so I see no need to 'report'...

Does anyone have Mr Walker's e-mail address? Perhaps we should call him in, like Gordon Ramsay in a dodgy restaurant. Only without the swearing.

So, what is the definition of a Serious Whinger?

;)

The definition of a serious whinger is one who mainly whinges purely for whingeing's sake. But they typically:
* generally either have multiple forum usernames/fora, or some/one of either
* either whinge completely on fora, or on blogs
* will upgrade their whinge(s) on a whim or demand changes that that aren't imperative to be changed
* pay attention to whinging that's the most appropriate for the forum they use and the conditions
* like to spend time fettling their whinges.
