Who was that man?

Just seen a bloke I recognised on a plane and I'm going mad trying to remember his name.

He's about 60 and I'm pretty sure he's an actor, quite grizzled, heavy temples, triangular face and slightly menacing, mad eyes. Might be French. I'm pretty sure he played one of the heavies in The French Connection and he often seems to play baddie roles, maybe in Bond movies. Can't find him on the IMDB site though.

Any suggestions?

That's interesting, and yes, it's a great book; I've read it 3 times and will probably read it again once I've started to forget the details.

Nope. Neither Jean Reno nor Jeroen Krabbé.

It's so annoying, I can see him now. Triangular face, narrow chin, menacing mad eyes, frizzy brown hair, thick neck, he was always the silent brutal type; I can't remember him saying much.

Got it now: Beverly Hills Cop: "Mr Maitland isn't going to be pleased...." Jonathan Banks..... except that more recent pics show him with white hair and the bloke I saw was more grizzled than this and had brown hair....
