So I am working at home tomorrow. I have forgotten half the charger of my laptop - the part that plugs into the laptop, a Dell Latitude 3440. I idly opened the laptop a while ago and it is as dead as a dodo.

Work is a loooong way away. Think a four hour train journey and two expensive train tickets.

I have tried googling a specific charger but don't seem able to find one for tomorrow.

I am thinking the best thing to do is to go buy a laptop base from somewhere like PC World Are there any other cheaper options like a cable that would let me charge it from the PC or a power bank of some description?

Thanks for any help and yes, I know I am a klutz.

£35, purports to be compatible with most Dell laptops

Think I am going to head over to Tamworth early doors tomorrow. There is a Currys and a Maplins there.

Thanks all. I feel a bit better now.

lost somewhere
I left my laptop PSU/charger on holiday. I bought a replacement at Currys/PC World, purely because there was a branch nearby when I discovered the loss. Like the one shown in the photo above, it cost about £35-£40, an absolute rip-off compared to one that would do the same job from eBay for about £12, but I didn't have the time to go that route. Be warned that there a whole load of different sized power plugs that look very similar to each other. Take the laptop with you when you buy a replacement. As long as you get the DC voltage within 10% of the stated one, you'll be fine, but make sure the current capacity is adequate.

Edit: Here's a cheapo eBay version......

It brought tears to my eyes to drop 40 notes at PC World.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/90W-Mult...995925&hash=item1c7c4922c0:g:KYoAAOSwAr9Zf-c0:cry:
