Who's snowed in?

Mrs and Miss C are both snowed in at home for the second day running (I don't have to travel to work, fortunately). Oxon's roads are largely impassable and chaotic.

This side of Oxon is getting worse by the minute, kids are off, managed to drop Mrs FF into work which is close-by. Had to return be cause we awoke to a big wet patch on the landing floor and a very damp wall, the V-gulley between 2 pitched rooves is leaking and I'm waiting for a pal with a long ladder to get-up and clear it Currently collecting the drips where I can get access, filling about a litre an hour!

I'm wondering how easy it is to cycle in wellies and fleece lined rain coat. Should I wear cycle gear underneath or just go for lots of jumpers?

My school is open. But being in 6th form, i doubt i will be doing much today. Im not going out on the bike, so im off to the gym in my 4th lesson. 5th lesson i have a teacher i dont like(and he doesnt like me), but im hoping he wont be there so we can go home early
I dont mind going in, its not a bad day today, 2 photography lessons(one i will mis to go gym), one PE theory lesson, then geog last.

I came in on the bike, halfway to the office snow started coming down so hard I couldn't see where I was going, so walked the rest of the way and now I'm stuck at work Not sure what to do about getting back home to be honest - might be a walk, 5 miles so it's doable but do I want to do it????

who else is snow bound and can't get in to work this morning ?
I was in two minds whether to risk a 25 mile drive through Somerset to Taunton but have just heard the A303 is shut for 10 miles around Ilminster .
I'm going to lose a days wage but my village is impossible to drive through as we are perched on a steep hill

When it isn't shut, the A303 is a great road for driving.

The downside of not needing to drive to work, and owning an MTB is that I don't have an excuse for staying at home! The roads were a bit hairy, but there was so little traffic in central Bristol that it wasn't much of a problem.

I was out building a mega snowman by the main road, and I would say that the number of cyclists I saw was making up something like 40% of the road traffic... saw an ambulance go by with lights flashing and going very slowly on the road.

I'd have thought the proportion of cyclists would fall rather rise. Cancelled buses perhaps?

the whole country's ground to a halt under the worst snow since the dinosaurs, and up here we've got... precisely nowt. Well, there's some on the hills, it's blimming cold and 1/2 a cm fell overnight, but it's mostly gone now. Can we have some, please?

I saw one cyclist wearing skiing goggles!

One thing I have learnt today: if you have waterproof trousers with a rear pocket, do the zip up. Otherwise, said pocket will fill with slush sprayed from the rear wheel, giving you one wet and one dry bum cheek. Less than pleasant...
