I started off a on my own and don't come from a cycling family like a lot of you apparently do and I don't really watch cycle racing or come into contact with any other cyclists so I don't really have any heroes. It's interesting reading your lists though.

My Dad. When he was on National Service he used to spend 10 hours of his 48 hour leave to cycle 110 miles to see my Mum. 110 miles in 5 hours dead. Not bad.

That's only because no-one can find him.

No heroes here, I don't believe in them. But it always brings a smile to my face when I see some wizened octogenarian trundling along on an ancient shopper. :biggrin:
