Why are the 'skirt' rules different for women than for men?

Seriously, I've worked in mainly all female and mainly all men environments. The women can be just as bad (if not worse) sometimes. Sexual or otherwise harrassment against either sex is not to be tolerated, however 'light hearted' it may seem.

I wear my kilt on New Years Eve and once, out in central Bristol, I had a drunken woman cross the street and try to lift it to 'have a peek'. As a gay man, I'm not accustomed to such female attention (we used to have a randy woman at work who once pinched my bum when I was going upstairs to change out of my cycling shorts). I think it's beacuse males don't wear skirts/kilts etc much and so it's probably pretty novel for a woman to see a man wearing one. Still doesn't give anyone the right to lift 'n' look.

I have also noticed how women gather at the bottom of stairs in pubs/bars where guys are in kilts, taking the opportunity to look up every time a kilted man ascends. They also seem to get a tad disappointed if you're wearing pants, but hey, it could be b*****k freezing.

Not any more, surely? Some men still lift up women's skirts and suggest they take it as a compliment? I must move in very sedate circles because the last time I was aware of that was in the early 80s and got the letch a long suspension.

Sadly, the answer is yes. And a lot of the comments and banter on this forum (as well as almost every other corner of the 'net, to be fair, though it really *isn't* fair) reflect that attitude.
