I didnt get irate or shout at him, I just said calmly that there was a car in front of me so he couldnt go anywhere.

The car was full of 3 very old men, which probably explains the moronity of his manouvre (not knowing how to drive around cyclists).

It didnt get me annoyed or anything because I was in a positive mood and wasnt going to let him ruin it. It was just a bit silly what he did.
Just out of curiosity, how old is very old? Approx.

The driver was about 55 and the front and rear passengers were about 70.

Whilst it is nice to time your run to the lights so that you do not have to stop; it does not always work so always be prepared to stop.
Have you ever thought of doing less 'dangerous' hobbies? I was thinking about knitting but those needles can hurt you and you can forget about cooking because of all of the sharp tools and fire.
I thought the point of a cycling related forum was to encourage people to cycle, not the opposite.

If this is your attitude towards cycling then I dont think you should be on here.

I guess I should come out with something smart and witty in answer to this, but to be honest, I would probably be better off to :banghead:Except to say that most 55 year olds I know, would be more than capable of setting their zimmers safely to one side and having a cosy little chat with gobby yooffs who needed proof that, there is life after 28 ;)

Here is a fellow cyclist dealing with this sort of thing in a cool, calm and collected manner.

Often, in these situations, the offending motorist is normally just confused as to whether they should pass or not. I find a polite 'keep-back' gesture helps to make their mind up. Turn it into a 'thumbs-up' once the hazard has passed and bob's yer uncle.
