Google Maps gives me a route that puts me on long sections of either the North Circular or the A10 - both major roads that idiots whizz along at 50 MPH. No problem! Just click and drag to change the route. Now...send to phone....hang on, what's this?
So, Google thinks I should use the Death Route. And even tho' my preferred backstreet route is on-screen, and therefore presumably accessible to its systems, it won't send me it. Nope, the only route it will send me is the one Google likes.
Googling shows this to be a Google innovation from a couple of years back (apparently it used to send routes, as amended). A thread on it (https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/maps/hca-6mt6CU0) has so far collected 110 posts, over 5000 views, and 1 utterly useless 'expert reply', 18 months ago.
Thanks Google.
