I didn't bother mentioning that, figured some sleazeball with far lower standards would come along to do that bit for me............

Somebody tried to talk me into organising a charidee event once, which would involve a number of people and up-front money and much faff.

No way.

They and I knew what the likely outcome would be. One or two of the people involved still owe me sponsorship money for a ride I did 3 bloody years ago. Can't stand unreliable folks, and its worse when the same unreliable folks try to hoodwink you into sorting something they want to do, but know will involve much hassle and let downs.

I organised a 10 day touring holiday through europe for a car forum I am involved with. Originally there where 25 people that deffinately wouldn't miss it, and it was a must do. Between myself and my travel agent we must have spent 3 months finding hotels big enough and willing to take a large party for one night only in each of 10 destinations along the route. When it came to paying the 25 dropped to 9 including me and swmbo. Luckily I hadn't messed about with deposits and was asking for the total up front, but it was still a lot of work that could have been a lot easier had we known we only needed beds for 9!!

Even stupider I went and did the same thing a couple of years later at the request of a few members, having learnt a lesson though I just sourced the hotels and winged it without actually booking anything, there ended up with 4 of us that time.
