Don't worry about the planet; it's only the living conditions for the human race we will destroy. Once we're gone the planet will return to it's old ways within a few thousand years, which is not a lot of time considering it's been here 4.5 billion years. It is US who are fragile; not the planet. Earth will be glad to see the back of us, mere parasites who happened to live here for the blink of an eye in its history.

You think it will take that long? Witin 24 hours of the Human race being obliterated the air will be clear all over the Earth. Within a couple of weeks all rivers will run clear. Within a couple of months weeds will have started growing and within a couple of years small trees will be growing all over the place, gradually breaking up buildings and roads. After 200 years I reckon all that will remain will be big earthworks like quarries and motorway and railway embankments.

Probably just Tesco bags, Toyotas, and Dawes Galaxys that will take thousands of years to biodegrade then :okay:.

Saw an interesting doc a few years ago. They reconned it was around 500 years for no visible trace of us.

Well, write it down boy ......
On One of my routes there's a tennis court beside a house. I can remember eight years ago seeing people play. For whatever reason the court was then left and it's been interesting seeing how nature has worked over the years. Now there's a large holly tree growing where the net was, with several smaller bushes dotted about, other rowan saplings about eight feet tall and the surface cannot be seen, being covered by grass, moss etc. In just eight years.

When nature produces such wonderful things like flowers why do we mess with it so much.

.

And yes I know we can't feed the world with plants but it makes you think

The only natural plant there is the Buddleia davidii (aka Butterfly Bush) both the Hippeastrum (aka Amaryllis) and the Dahlia "Bishop of Llandaff" are selected and thoroughly messed around with cultivars

It's a bit weird that you consider humans as unnatural, and different in some way from the rest of nature.

We evolved just as everything else did.
