Why is everyone else meeting the fairy but me?

Everytime I read a post on here it always contains someone moaning about getting a p*ncture. I havent had one in months and I cycle along leaf ridden, stoney, sandy shared paths all the time. Has the fairy forgotten about me?

You've done it now.

It's called wet weather, glass, thorns or flint.

No doubt you will get a PUNCTURE tonight Matthew.

Just one of those things isn't it?
I get very few PUNCTURES. On my commute this year I have only had 3 PUNCTURES, and that's over 5500 commuting miles this year over the mean streets of South East London.

That's probably hexed me now hasn't it?

I must have sold my soul because I never patch and I'm still on the original tubes in my 2 year old road bike.

I used to get them fairly regularly on the 700x28's on my old hybrid, but since getting the roadie with 700x23's not one..

I'll get a double on the way home tonight wont I....

A few months back the P fairy visited me 5 times in a very short space of time; since then nothing

The P fairy is going to pay you a very special visit now Matthew because you made this thread hehe

What tyres do you use, Matthew? I think that has a lot to do with it.

In my case .... 5000+ miles, one pair of Vittoria Rubino Pros, no punctures.

(And I haven't hexed myself because I'm not using those tyres now, since I decided to go for something wider. I'll have to see how well the new ones hold up.)

My favourite to use are Conti CityRides. I bought a pair 3 years ago and although the rear wore out, I still have the front one on ATM. In september I got a cheap Vittoria Zaffiro to replace the rear. I think I might just buy myself a new set of Conti CR's as they have been very reliable to me.

I think I've had 2 or 3 only this year, which I think is OK given my exposure; I'll probably get one tomorrow now ;) I'm kinda expecting one on the SS road bike as I pumped the tyres up to 90psi a few weeks back but haven't wanted to top them up, opting for more grip and the OE tyres on the cheap SS are now 1800miles old.

I ran with those a while ago, very resilient tyres, though the rolling resistance isn't great for a relatively slick tyre! They could be the reason why you haven't had a visit

I've had two this year, but that's all because I was too stubborn to accept my rear tyre needed replacing and thought I could milk a couple more hundred miss or so out of it!

I was out last saturday and got a puncture after 42 miles! I was on my return journey and 8 miles from home. I swapped my tube by the roadside and continued my ride home! Lo & behold, I got another one 2 miles from home! Couldn't be bothered going through the whole rigmarole again so I decided just to push the bike home for the last 2 miles. Hard work walking that far in road shoes and cleats with people you know passing in cars , beeping & waving!!!
