Why is it always 10:10 in Adworld?

Anybody got an atomic watch? I quite fancy the idea of being in perfect time.

I have a desk clock that is linked to the atomic clock via radio waves.
It always takes a couple of days to adjust when the clocks go back.

I used to wear it but I have a habit of damaging watches as they get bashed about a bit on my wrist. It does need to be Omega serviced at some point, though it still runs well and keeps good time, but a couple of decades ago the glass was smashed and a replacement was put in. Unfortunately the replacement is a plain glass where as the original had the Omega logo in the centre. It would be nice to get the logo back on it.

I switched to using pocket watches for a long time, as they survive better in my pocket then on my wrist, but I haven't found a modern pocket watch that is reliable and affordable, and I don't really want to use one of the antique silver ones I have.

Then mobile phones came along, that had nice clear clocks on them, and that replaced the watches I have. I now keep all my watches in safe storage as a mini collection, some still good and some rather worse for wear.

That's what I figured.

It isn't something I am planning on doing soon but it does deserve it at some point, if for nothing else then to get the correct glass on the front again.

It is one of three odd things I treasure that I got from my Dad, the others being a gold ring of a similar period and a Telefunken M24KL.
The ring needs re engraving with his name, as it was badly botched at a jewelers and the 'script' text was replaced by 'spider scrawl', and the Telefunken could do with an overhaul as the reel brakes are sticking.

I was given a nice self-winding Omega for my 18th birthday but it couldn't cope with my climbing and motorcycling lifestyle and was often broken; it is now in a box in the attic because I don't want to spend any more money on it.

After that I went through a Swatch phase and it wasn't until I got married that Mrs Gti persuaded me to buy a "proper" watch so I spent £120, an extravagant amount of money for something that just tells the time, on a very plain battery Seiko in titanium to match my bike frame. What I wasn't prepared for was the reactions of two very materialistic colleagues, both of whom lived in Cheshire: both noticed my new watch the minute I walked in to the office and both were visibly disappointed that it wasn't anything flashy. The second of those colleagues later talked himself out of his excellent and very secure job by insisting to our boss: (his words) "I will not be satisfied with anything less than a Beemer on my drive!". The boss told him a BMW was out of the question and if he didn't like the policy, the door was over there... so he walked. Idiot.
