Is there?
Can't say I've noticed any more than the usual anti-cyclist fired at me.

Has the OP got any evidence for his opening remarks? From who? When? Where? Why? I used to mostly get ignored on my upright bike as they steamed past but I've had plenty of positive interactions with sporty types, and practically everybody else, actually, since I came to the Dark Side. It's been a revelation, a pleasant one. Am I doing it wrong? Is he doing it wrong?

Why is there so much hate spewed against recumbents and trikes?

I assume you're referring to recumbent trikes, not proper barrows like this one.

Loch side.
I'm a racer boy through and through, albeit in retirement (with a comeback imminent, any decade now) but I still love me a good 'bent downhill race. I attend the 'Bent Downhill World Championship at Fort William each time it comes there.

Cross Country Trike Racing is also on the rise, will be an Olympic sport soon, I bet.

I always say, it's not about the bike.
