I coined a phrase for the cyclists who overtake then can't stay ahead: wannascalps. So just remember, you heard it here, first .

Some people don't have enough going in in their lives to start or contribute to a thread on this topic ;) .

Seems to me you might be describing yourself. What on earth is your problem?

lol - I didn't say I had a problem - I was just pointing out that I found the overtake then slow down and the ignored 'morning' strange... But if you don't think that's strange and makes me a knob then fine - some people are just wired different I guess.....

Could be doing intervals for training?

Edit: Somebody already posted, teach me not to not read the rest of the thread before replying.

Possibly, but he sped up as we were just getting into a busy part of town - would seem an odd place for interval training, with the volume of traffic in the area.

Also, some people are just rubbish at hills!
Also almost every rider increases their power considribly for the same percived effort when going up inclines. However some of us don't. I ride to watts & relative pecived effort (RPE), often I find I absolutly blow riders (in Cambs) on the flat & down hill but if I pass them just before an incline often they'll overtake me going up hill only to ease off on the downhill/flat. I know my effort hasn't changed because my power meter says I was doing the same wattage within a few % the entire time.

I overtook a guy today, then he overtook me while I was waiting at the toucan crossing so he gained a couple of minutes on me, but I still caught him up later on and overtook him again
