I just split a regular mavic x19 rim running 2.35 big apples at 60psi. If I have to have another wheel built I may as well get one sorted with appropriately wide rims. Can anyone suggest some wide rims that aren't chunky DH jobs?

At one extreme I could go the fat-bike wheelset route, but I'd like to avoid spending half a grand on some 50mm FB rims plus wheel build. I'll need rims in 26" and 29", as the bike is already a frankstein 69er.

Stans Flow EX . They are strong enough for downhill, probably one of the favourites, wide enough at 29.1mm but light compared with many budget rims at 490g (26) and 545 g (29) in 32H guise.

Another Stans option would be Arch EX. Billed as a trail rim, mine haul my Clydesdale Class carcase and remain straight and true with a 24.6mm width, 400g in 26" flavour, and 460g in 29er.

Cheers, I'm getting there - there's a couple of Velocity rims, plus Ryde Enduro. .I'll put your suggestions in the mix and see what they all look like on paper. Also they seem specialise in stocking a lot of wider rims at Justridingalong. I'll probably phone them up and see what they suggest without brakign the bank.
