I've got a CAAD5 R700 which I was thinking of using through the winter. Does anybody know if it's possible to get 25mms and/or a pair of mudguards on there?

Replace the wheels with 650b? http://sheldonbrown.com/650b.html
More room for mudguards and wider tyres. Not such a massive selection of tyres in this country though, although inner tubes aren't that difficult.

Can't be sure TBH but I doubt you'd get 25's and guards on.

FWIW you don't need 25's though IMO. 23's and Crud ROADRACER's will see you right.

@ColinJ has a CAAD, and IIRC it's a CAAD5, sure he'll be along to proffer advice soon enough
The Cannondale is my 'best bike' which I don't ride in grotty weather, so it has never had mudguards fitted.

I tried using Roadracers on my Basso with 25C tyres but there just wasn't enough clearance; obviously that varies from bike to bike. The Basso is fine with 23C tyres and the Roadracers, so I leave them on all year round.

If you can get a 5 mm allen key between the top of your front tyre and the forks, between the top of the rear tyre and the underside of the rear brake, and between the front of the rear tyre and the back of the seat tube then you can squeeze Roadracers on. You might get away with 4 mm of clearance, but it would be tight.
