Get it cooked quick so you can post up a review, I love a nice schnitzel.

Once a year or so I have to go over to a place near Hildesheim for work and usually get to my hotel on a Sunday night. Soon as I've unpacked it's straight down to the bar, and no need for a menu, schnitzel and a large Krombacher please.

When I was in Munich I must have had it about five times, and then one night a very friendly bunch of locals insisted on feeding us schnapps with a little pear in it until about 3am...

The Austrian's eat schnitzel with a really odd accompaniment, can't think what it is. Something like jam.

My boyfriend suggested we had cranberry jelly with ours on Christmas Eve - easy seeing as we had it already for Christmas Day! I don't know what the traditional Austrian equivalent would be...

Red currant jelly is I think the standard red jam stuff that is served.

They are very easy to make yourself, just take a pork steak (or whatever meat you are using), bash hell out of it with a tenderiser until it's really thin and then dip it in some beaten egg then into breadcrumbs. I think the really thin ones you get in Austria/Germany are made using a sort of roller to get them quite that thin, but in general the principle applies, and making them can be good stress relief too

I ate a lot of it when I lived in the Czech Republic, and also on a weekend trip to Vienna.

I don't want to put a dampener on things, but don't expect too much from the Aldi one.
