I have been cycling in London for about 4 months now and am keen to increase efficiency. Someone i know was recently seriously injured on a bike and the wife has now "asked me nicely" not to get clip ins. Does anyone know a hard shoe (to increase efficiency) that doesnt have clip ins? Also, is it worth it, or is the real difference felt from the upward pull of clip-ins.

Thanks.

Not quite seeing the reasoning, does she think that having 'clip ins' is in any way related to safety?

Tell her that if you are clipped in then the efficiency will make you more able to get out of trouble than wobbling about with your feet all over the place.

Maybe it's when you stop at the lights and forget to unclip in time, then fall in the direction of the front of a bus, could be running through her mind as it did mine.

Wife Won't let me have clip ins

It's your wife, not your mother. Get a grip man

This is what you need to tell the wife. Cycling does not make you infertile. Its a myth
It could improve you night times

Don't be nice back, don't ask her. Tell her your getting clip ins

No point in asking this question as yet. You need to sort the wife out first
