I've never done it competitively (although I know a police dog handler who does) but when I'm in he gym I can wheelie a rowing machine. 'ard.

Part of me is tempted to go along, just to confirm my suspicion that it would be about as engaging as watching grass grow.

I imagine it's very similar to watching F1. With the real time leader board and split times on display. It would be about as exciting as that I suspect. But without the potential for crashes. I suppose there is always the danger of bonking.
