I tried to use my credit card online and it was declined by the bank.

I just called the bank and they told me that because I had used the same card the day before to shop at Wiggle.co.uk they had declined the next payment becasue of the high number of fraud cases originating from wiggle, so they thought it might be a fraudulent transaction.

All sorted now but......

I've just deleted my card details from the wiggle website just in case!

I use PayPal for almost everything now, including Wiggle. It should be harder to comprimise, I'm not leaving my card details with lots of different people, and if someone does use my account at least I know I'll get an immediate email about the payment so I can challenge it straight away.

Strange, always used mine on Wiggle - did so the other day too - with no problems.
it was a combination of what I said in OP, plus the fact that the card isn't usually used at all, plus the transaction after the wiggle transaction was for a relatively large amount. Anyway, the bank put all the blame of the declined transaction on to the fact that I had used wiggle the day before which made the second purchase look fraudulent.

I find it really puts my bank's mind at rest if one day I order a £2 top up on my mobile online, via credit card, then the next day book a wedding in Sri Lanka and attempt to buy a villa in Mustique

I once put £10 credit on my PAYG phone with my credit card for the first time then not two minutes later i get a phone call from the credit card company questioning the transaction.
I would much rather they phone me to question a transaction than not.
