Glad I didn't enter and waste a whole load of money on petrol if the 80 miler was cancelled - that would have really pissed me off! Do they think they can get away with that simply becasue it was a free event? I did a bike-events ride in Essex last year and the floods were over my feet in many places.

Indeed, I've done previous Wiggle events that were quite flooded, they still went ahead. To be fair, it's not wiggle that decide it's ukcyclingevent who run it on behalf of wiggle. Another event of theirs this Sunday (24th), the Southern Spring Classic, has also been shortened from 80miles to 56miles. The weather report for the area is not nice, but far from un-rideable. Me thinks there maybe too much 'elf and safety' guff coming from their event insurer.
