Wild beast on the rampage, terrorizes cyclist

Panic reigned, with a woman being bitten, a man falling off his bicycle as he was chased and a pest controller being pursued back to his car.

Club chairman Bruce Staines, who was chased around the car park, said he had "never seen anything like it".

Mr Staines admitted he "tweaked his groin" trying to get away from the marauding animal and back to the safety of the club.

"None of us could get out. When we tried to use a side door, the fox heard and came haring round there."

A woman who tried to distract the fox with food sustained a bite to her hand.

A man who tried to outpace the creature on his bicycle was chased into a field and fell off, losing his glasses in the process.

"He had to fend the fox off with his bicycle," Mr Staines said.

Any excuse will do for a lock in...hic..we were trapped hic honest hic..lol as if a fox would keep 8 people trapped..i walk past them often at night walking the dog..they look and stare then dissapear

I was once attacked by a sheep on the top of Blencathra in the Lake District. Aggressive little bugger it was too, butting me in the back when I was sat down and trying to get into my rucksack. It was after my lunch and, once it realised it wasn't getting any joy from me, wandered off to mug someone else.

A fox like that may be rabid. I've seen many foxes, and they usually aren't aggressive like that. I had one out at my weather station one morning, and he just went through the fence after looking at me and flicking his tail a couple of times.

Luckily the British Isles are still free from Rabies, how long this continues to be the case who knows with animal smuggling on the rise (Europeans illegally bringing their 'pets' over)
