I nearly ran over a grass snake on the the cycle track at the weekend. There seem to be lots of hares about, and loads of buzzards. A while back I looked out of the window of weatherspoons, and there was a buzzard perched on a branch right by the window, amazing to see it so close up and in he middle of town. I sat by the bird feeders on the cycletrack and a jay and a spotted woodpecker visited, along with a group of long-tailed tits. Seen lots of goldfinches this year too.

great list coming together,

Should have mentioned the question was inspired by my mate who nearly ran over a bear last week ( he lives in Squamish, BC)

other things I've seen, occasionally on the bike but regularly behind my house

rabbits ( quite often in my cats mouth)
a hare
badgers
fox (had the good sense not to return since it ate my neighbours chickens)
moor hens
swans ( they had 8 cygnets born last year)
indian running ducks
geese ( one white one, whatever they are, and the rest 'normal')

Never seen a mole , despite the evidence, or an otter.

Great list though !

Coming up the last hill after 400km in 24h I saw a fox jumping into the nettles at the side of the road. They are very "springy" things, jumping foxes

Today I saw a condor, five porpoises, a tarantula, a lion and a snark.

Nothing unusual then

I saw a kestrel this afternoon, wind-hovering above a field by the side of the road. It flew off rather abruptly - I assume that either it or its prey was disturbed by the oncoming car. Beautiful to see it like that. The power in their wings is awesome.

Took the coast road this morning: common seals on the sandbanks, buzzards and crows in aerial combat, turns, curlews, heron, grouse, rabbits, 2x farms dogs and a Highland bull called 'Victor'.

See Big Vic most mornings, must drive him mad when the 'ladies' come past on their way to the parlor and then back again, unless of course he prefers ones who wear the big ginger coats.
