will a handlebar stem on a cbt italia function ok on a raliegh? with photos.

does anyone know if a handlebar stem on an italian racer will fit on a raliegh? i found the link below wich gives specs and there seems to be only fractions of a mm difference.

That's two nuts - exactly the normal number

I've never known a case where a quill stem won't fit a frame, the size was of a universal standard.

Raleigh used to use their own individual size for stems. They then changed to the standard size so it depends on the age of the Raleigh.

yup i was thinking over in the same way ralieghnut. i think ill start by popping both stems out and measuring them. from the link above

sorry the two links dont seem readable i tried copying from the chart. heres the main link again and both sets of figures are in the first chart at the top. its seems maybe only the threads are different for the lock bar? through the middle of the stem?

Assuming the Raleigh is a threaded steerer, then I'd bet on there being two nuts (the lower nut may not have any flats on it...)

Its the 25.4 one that's the pita the 26.4/26.5 will interchange OK.

success. just swapped the bars and they went on fabo. i thought id share some photos,

here are the bars that are biting the dust,

and the Italian bars on my 64cm Scorpio

just got to get the brakes on, change the tyres and rear wheel, and change the seat. happy sundays are sweet.
