Will Crud Road Racers Fit My Bike?

I'm looking to get some mudguards to fit my workhorse/commuting bike; a Specialized Allez 24 (2011?)

The above mudguards seem recommended on this site so am considering a purchase.

Any reason why they wouldn't fit?

Any better alternatives?

I forgot to say I've been using 25mm tyres during crappy weather so guess that will be a factor. Have some 23s though.

I run those on my Giant with 25mm tyres, they rub...23mm tyres could be better

crud say you need 5mm clearance everywhere for them to fit. You check this by sliding a 5mm allen key into gaps between tyre and frame/brakes etc.

My scott had the bare 5mm and they worked but very fiddly and required lots of adjusting to avoid rubbing.If you had 7 or 8 mm everywhere they would probably be fine.

uhm.. Basically, If you can slide a 5 mm allen key between the tyres and the brake, it should be fine

I have them "for" my Allez. Although I run 23's

Must admit, have a GIANT here too with 25's and haven't tried them

I have those on my Cannondale with 25mm tyres and there's no tyre rub at all

Crud road racers are junk anyway. Have a look at SKS Raceblade Longs, coverage around the front mech is less, but coverage elsewhere is better and they are much more rigid and robust. They can also be removed easily as they connect via a set of quick release points.

err, road racers aren't junk, work fine, and can be removed from my bike in less than two minutes.

Another recommendation for SKS Raceblade Longs. Has some road racers and they were flimsy at best. I didn't like them brushing against my tyres, the SKS are sturdy and very good.

We will have to agree to disagree because there is no way my opinion will change on this (and I have no interest in trying to change yours), IMO they are trash, absolute garbage (apart from the front mech bit).

They wouldn't fit my bike, only the Cruds would. Giant's own may have done but the Cruds were free from the LBS
