There's a lot of conker trees dying at the moment with leaf miners spreading canker. Loads of young trees planted a couple of years ago in a grand avenue here have snuffed it.
My indoor pear tree's still here Mort. Not much taller, but it's sprouting leaves here and there, though i think expecting pears off it this year (or any) is a bit too optimistic.

Won't thrive in a pot: better in bare ground. Horse chestnut's prospects aren't great long-term. Bacterial infection is prevalent nationwide, and it's not recommended to plant any longer. There's one resistant variety - aesculus indica - if you must have one. No leaves is suspect. Scratch the bark off with your nail - if it's green it's still living
Why plant a tree that doesn't produce edible fruit anyway? ;)
