I'm still a few hundred miles down - like about 400 or so. Shoulder op did not help and no sportives, but daily I am up...need to get the total up.

2000 down, aimed for 8000 probably hit 6000 (maybe bit less). i've had a shitty year for minor ailments. over half of that is on a fixie tho.

Why are you putting the carbon away? Seem's such a waste. There really is no need.
If you have a nice bike then ride the damned thing.

Ian, I think you have the same bike as I do, a Secteur. I use it for commuting at the moment. Would you put it away for the winter and revert to " a beater", or just give it some TLC? If you advise me to stick with it, can you suggest a basic cleaning schedule? I said basic.......

Thanks.

Currently my total is standing at 8278 Km. but 2171 of them is on a turbo in the gym so can't record them on My Cycling Log. The roads where I'm currently stationed are not suitable for riding, hence the daily visit to the gym and turbo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My target is 10000 Km which is doable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nearly there . just glad to be fitter than i was this time last year

I didn't have any goals at the start of the year, and I only started properly recording my mileage late last year, so I have no comparisons: but I know I have beaten any targets I would have set.
  1. I hit 2000miles on 30 June (deliberately added 3 miles to commute to hit the round number)
  2. 4000 miles achieved yesterday
  3. Just signed up to endomondo and currently CC leading monthly challenge and leaderboard
  4. All done on 16" wheels!
  5. 5000miles by end of year??
(I usually work in km, but miles happen to be giving me the - ahem - milestone numbers at the moment)

In 2009 I did a mere 400 miles, in 2010 I did 800, so this year I thought 1,600 would be nice but I've already done 2,800 so I'm adjusting it to 3,200. Not looking forward to 2012 though...

Getting the messages
My target was just to beat last years commuting total which was 3875 miles. By Friday of this week I will have completed 4000 miles (fingers crossed) and I still have a potential 21 commuting days left before christmas.

None of them. Mostly because we've bought a flat and there's been a lot to do this year- still is. I'll defer them to next season perhaps,

I wanted to get a top 10 place in any one local 'cross event (I felt this was do-able given previous placings). No chance of that, the only riding I've been doing is riding to work and a couple of time trials. Last year I got into the top 5 vets in the local 'cross league so I wanted to do that again, same problem there. Also <23.30 on the club 10 course, didn't get close (not even within a minute, season before I was a handful of seconds off).

I wasn't bothered much about mileage, the idea was to focus on making fewer miles count for more.

I've been commuting though, and that's good.
