Hi all, I have just signed up for the Wiltshire Bike Ride organized by The British Heart Foundation on 20 September. It's over a 47 mile course which is 20 miles further than I have cycled before, so it will be a bit of a challenge for me and I'm hoping for decent weather. Hope you don't mind me posting this here, I wanted to bring it to your attention and if anyone feels they would like to sponsor me and donate to this worthy cause just click on the link below.

Many thanks.

In terms of training, go out as often as possible, and do lots of shorter rides and a few where you increase to 20/25/30/40 miles etc. Just take it easy and do lots of shorter days in preference to a small number of long rides

J C thanks for the advice. Just been out on a 27 miler which went ok, struggled a bit the last mile or two with a strong headwind, but kept it spinning and got home. You say do lots of shorter days, what kind of mileage are you thinking? Only got a couple of weeks before the ride really so not a lot of time for serious training. Will just have to pace myself and hope for the best I think.

I am only a beginner but prior to doing my first 55 mile ride the longest I had done was about 25 . have a rest day or two immediately before the ride then dont rush it you will be OK.
