I had a driver force passed me this morning. The road is quite narrow there and there was a 4x4 coming the other way. This driver decided to just come passed anyway. I must admit he was so close I screamed WTF!

I phoned the police 101 number anyway as a usually do when I feel that my life has been put in danger. I was expecting the usual "there's nothing we can do without an independent witness" and "we don't accept videos" line. There is a witness this time and to my surprise the police want me to send them the video. Apparently so many people use cameras on bikes and in cars that they now accept video evidence.

I don't expect much to come of it, especially if the witness doesn't want to give evidence, but if the police actually see what happened and speak to the driver about how dangerous their driving was and how it made me feel then that's a step in the right direction.

My suggestion would be for the police to arrange a meeting with the reported driver, with police supervision of course, so we can say how we feel and let the driver know we are actual humans who can be hurt or killed by their actions. This should only be in cases where a prosecution is not going to happen though.

I did actually suggest the stocks for people found guilty of crimes that usually get community service. The officers I was in casual conversation with didn't think I was being serious.

I think I had a driver shouting random letters at me last month.

A line parked cars on my side, similar, but with a gap and a skip on his, room for one car in between as long as nobody opens a door.

He decides I'm either invisible or irrelevant despite me being in the centre of the available road to deter people getting past me, and just heads straight for me and actually sped up rather than pulling in to the available gap.

He was stunned to see I didn't just vanish, and instead of braking, he decides to keep coming, despite it being obvious there was absolutely nowhere for me to go.

Luckily, he was kind enough to make the gap wider by taking off his wing mirror and a some of his passenger side by rubbing it on the skip.

I had thought it was his passenger calling him a nob head, until I thought about it and realised the passenger was female, and it was a male voice, so I guess it was aimed at me.

As I don't have a camera, I didn't think it was worth having a chat for youtube, so I just carried on. He was obviously in a rush, so it wouldn't have been polite to delay him longer. Anyway, he seemed busy picking up the little bits of his mirror.

About a month before, in exactly the same spot, someone did exactly the same, but decided to stop as they reached me. There were about three in the car, and they were pointing at something behind me. I think they were expecting me to go back to a gap about 8 car lengths back. They were full of good advice as I kept smiling, shaking my head and pointing at the gap they should have pulled into a couple of cars behind. Once they'd done that, I gave them a nice smile and a thank you. Okay, they made a mistake, but it's still nice to be polite isn't it. They called me a nob head too. I think there's something wrong with my mirror, because I've had a good look, and can't even find a spot on my head.
