It was blowing a good un yesterday, two downhills I should have hit at least 30mph with minimal pedalling - managed 16 & 22 & legs going like the clappers!
Today I resembling a Thunderbird puppet, much to my bubbas amusement!

I'm having a bit of a strop about the wind myself. I'd planned a fairly challenging 15 mile route (I'm still a newbie) but had to come home after only 2. I just couldn't cope with the strong headwind. I even had to 'push' to get downhill, and the gentle (albeit long) uphill nearby almost finished me off. There's no way I could have managed my route.

Not. Happy.

It seems all I ever get is a head or side wind, outbound I was looking forward to the cross wind turning in to a tailwind, but it felt like a head wind!!

Tis very windy for such clear skies

Just had 30km of being blasted by wind, leaves and blossom from the trees, unrelated but also narrowly avoided two dog incidents, one where dog walker with extra long lead, dog walker and dog on opposite sides of the lane, and another over excited jumping dog on a long lead...

Amazing winds - Today's ride I climbed almost 150m and on top of the ridge it was gale force .... but the sun was great when you got into sheltered areas .... strange weather!

The winds from the east haven't died down here for 3 days, today seems the worst. Going to do a route later with the, hopefully with the wind behind me for the ride home

Been feeling guilty till now! My first abandon was going to do between 50-60, arrived home with 12 miles done. Couldn't face another 20+ at the end of the ride. Saturdays was bad enough. Now I feel sensible also managed to cut the hedge and recieved some brownie points. Looking forwards to tonights game hope we can win. Norwich for promotion please.

I can put up with the wind up to a point on my wee short trips if I've somewhere in particular to go, but just going out for a run, I can't stand it.

According to the weather forecast the wind speed is only 15mph in Glasgow today, but that's utter tosh. It's been very blustery for days, I only did 6 miles on Saturday morning because I couldn't face plodding along into the wind any longer. Today I battled my way along the road to my destination, and absolutely flew home on the return journey. 18-19mph on the flat with no real effort for someone who usually does about 12-13mph, so I was getting quite a wee bit of help from the wind at that point!

Like everyone else, my 20 mile ride yesterday evening was a real challenge at times, and being a newbie it was a real eye opener. At one point whilst cycling in a very open space and a side wind coming from the left, I was having to lean in to the wind just to stay upright!

I had intended going out again today as I will not get a chance to ride again before Thursday, however, I am still feeling the effects of last nights ride in my my legs and the wind is even stronger, so I am going to give it a miss and just do some squats and leg lunges to help build my quads.

Just got back from a circular 40 mile route and I swear that 39.5 miles of that were into a headwind...

Me too. I can't understand it. I had big hill towards the end of my ride and I was quite looking forward to it as the wind would be behind me. Except it wasn't. Go figure!

I did a 31 mile loop, and I did have the wind behind me on the homeward stretch. I hit that sweet spot when I was going in the same direction and at the same speed as the wind and it was total silence, no wind noise, just the whirring of the wheels on tarmac. Another good moment was when I was merrily cycling up a slight incline at 21 mph with the wind helping me along and passed 2 guys puffing and panting pushing into the wind downhill.

I decided first thing this morning it was too windy to get the bike out, so decided to go for a hike. Only managed a 5 mile walk as wind made it really unpleasant, but really enjoyed a look round Quainton windmill which was open and working! Then in a moment of madness after being home at least half hour and bored of sitting around got the bike out managed a 23 miler (not bad as its only the 5th outling) and it was far more enjoyable than the hike on foot even though at one point it got a bit scary.
