I've been having trouble with Windows 7 recently. I plug in my camera and the camera does it's usual thing, shows that it's connected but nothing comes up in Windows. All other devices work fine but it's not showing it at all, it isn't even appearing in Device Manager.

For reference, the camera is a Fuji Finepix S2950 and it's been working up until a few days ago and I haven't done anything that would cause it to not work. There aren't any drivers and the disc that came with the camera doesn't have drivers on it. I'm stumped.

Sometimes windows7 takes a while to find the new device, is there a green progress bar across the top of the screen (windows7 - computer) when the device is plugged in? I tend to take the memory card out and use the built in card reader in my laptop, it seems to work a lot quicker than accessing it via the camera usb port.

Windows doesn't do anything when I plug it in, it's as if it's not plugged in at all. My PC has a SD reader but it doesn't work for SDHC cards unfortunately.

Does it appear in "My Computer" as a memory card or drive? Occasionally my memory cards don't activate the windows default plug and play window, especially if I have other stuff open. Have you upgraded or installed anything like iTunes or any other media programme which has altered your default media settings?

Has there been an update, you could restore to an earlier point.

Have you tried, with the camera switched on, searching for new devices in device manager?

I've got My Finepix Studio installed, that's just general software and not particular drivers for the camera. I will try a restore point now.

No luck with the system restore, the camera's still not being detected.

Have you downloaded the drivers? (although drivers are preinstalled in the camera this may help). Have you scanned your hardware and tried a different port. Try turning off your antivirus and firewalls, turn off your pc plug in camera and turn on then restart.

You can still get pics off the card by putting your card in your pc

I can't find any drivers for this camera, I've downloaded the Fujifilm software but that contains no drivers. The disc that came with the camera has no drivers on it either. I've scanned for new hardware, tried plenty of different ports, tried restarting with the camera plugged in, I don't have any antivirus installed and I can't get the pictures off of the card because my SD reader doesn't support SDHC!
