Windows 7 not detecting my digital camera

You shouldn't need drivers as it just appears as external storage like a flash drive.
If you plug in a flash drive does the pc recognise that ?

Yep, no problems with my USB stick.

Agreed. Try another laptop or pc. You need to establish if the camera is working correctly before trying to fix the pc

Heh, didn't think of that. I'll get hold of another PC today and give it a shot.

Right ok. So the fault lies with the camera. Go through the menu and put it back to default settings. Try charging up the battery. Do a google search for your camera and common problems.
All else fails - camera manufacturer web site and look for some support.
Time to don the hat & cape .... Inspector Holmes

Note the OP said their laptop is so old it doesn't support sdhc cards so that would require one of those usb card readers.

My old PC didn't have a card slot, so I bought a USB reader at the same time I bought the camera, because I knew it would be much easier than connecting the camera.

Personally, I would get a new usb card reader as it will be much quicker than direct to the camera. We have 4 cameras in use, and I just use the adapter. Readers are 10 quid max for a good one.

Just ordered a USB reader, still unsure about why the camera isn't connecting but it doesn't matter now. Thanks guys :biggrin:
