Windows V Android Tablets

Yesterday I went into Tesco to buy a Hudl, only to be told it's discontinued and replaced by this - http://www.tesco.com/direct/windows...black/630-1078.prd?icid=tabletpcs_trade_slot4 - which they tried to flog me.

I've only ever used Android on a phone or tablet, mainly for internet and games, so was wondering if anyone had made the switch from Android to windows, and what did you think of it?

TBH..
I bought a cheap Windows 7 inch tab(to use for one of my hobbies) and after using I prefer Android..
but the Windows does its purpose well..
I still use my Nexus constantly..
far easier...

I hate all things Windows! I suppose it's what your used to but I've tried to use windows stuff and always gone back to android

....nearly bought one used from my brother a short while back, but didn't gel with Windows on a mobile. Since acquired the wife's old phone after she got a Note 4. Runs Android, same as on my tablet - better the devil you know in my case. My understanding is that Microsoft are keen to get a foot in the door, so a lot of the entry level smartphones in UK have it. I'm sure it's perfectly OK, but couldn't be bothered to relearn stuff....

I have a windows phone and android tablet. I prefer my tablet to be honest.

I am the one person that likes windows mobile and for good measure own a year and month old hudl shaped doorstop. It's a POS that went back twice under warranty, came back broken once and now just out of warranty has catastrophically failed again. From my exerience you've dodged a bullet not getting lumbered with an end of version hudl.

Even in use I preferred my windows phone and still do to the cheap Motorola android phone I have currently. Simply because I let my son borrow my windows phone and have never seen it since & this was an unused freebie we had at home.

When you give windows mobile a go with no preconceptions and get past the knee jerk 'ooh different - it's not iHype or robot, it is a capable fast useful OS that IMO handles the background tasks and processes very well indeed (& I type this as an inveterate fiddler in android settings) needing barely any setup or ongoing maintenance to optimise performance or work as it should - unlike this android- and I like the tiled approach.

The app store may still be 3rd in developers minds but there was nothing I have on android or my iSheep wife has on her array of apple products that I couldn't get on windows too. Notes, games, internet banking, MS office (naturally) social media, very good GPS mapping, sports apps, it is all there.

I may well go and have a look in Tesco at that tablet and personally would not discount it just because it is windows.

Ooh that tablet looks good for the money. I currently have a Note 3 Android Phone, a Nokia 435 Windows Phone (for when I'm out on the bike), a Nexus 7 2012 and an iPad.

I can't seem to live without my Note 3 but, and it's a big but, I don't think when it actually comes down to it I use it for anything the Nokia can't handle. It's the potential the Note 3 has and the fact I can root it, put a custom ROM on it, decide I like it better as stock and so put it back to exactly how it came out of the box.

The Nexus 7 is now struggling significantly and just lags constantly. I've put a custom ROM on it that seems to have returned it to just about usable but I'm looking for a new tablet so that Tesco one is interesting.

The Nokia and the iPad do what it says on the tin. I honestly can't fault the Nokia at doing what I use a phone most for: email, bookface, news aggregators, web. My only gripe is that I can't mess with the OS too much. Similarly with the iPad plus an extra gripe of the OH always has it.

Get a second hand iPad if money is an issue. I've found Android a nightmare tablet wise compared to the simplicity of an iPad.

Wifey has a Nexus 1st Gen. eldest daughter has a Kindle fire and youngest has a Hudl.

the Nexus is better than the Kindle fire, and the Hudl, but the Hudl is better than Kindle fire .

I have an Ipad ( work issue) , and have used a windoze tablet in work.

DONT get a windoze tablet. get an android device.

I am an Android fan, but I have to admit Mrs Fnaar's iPad-mini is faster than my Android tablet.

I'm fine with windows on pc (used to it, after all these years) but not keen on using it for mobile or tablet.

I have an android tablet and phone but time and time again return to my laptop when I want to do anything other than browse the internet.
I have used iPad's. For the PC illiterate, they are great. If you actually know something about computers and want to do something with them, they are not so great.
Given the choice, if I had to choose between my dual boot windows 7/10 laptop, my husband's Linux laptop, my android tablet, or either of our android phone (I can throw my mothers and step-father's iPads into the mix as well because I support them and have used them) I would choose my windows laptop every time.
Windows on a tablet or phone - I haven't tried (yet).

Argos are doing a great deal on this Lenovo Android tablet.I bought and set one up for my mum.Works great,runs Android 5 too.
She loves it.

I've got an ASUS tablet and to be honest I never think what OS it's running, just turn it on and do whatever.........

Did you have a Hudl2?

I rang Tesco for confirmation and they said they were discontinuing it due to high failure rate.

My little girl has had one for a year though and it never seems to freeze as some android tablets seem to do.

android for me , i love my hudle,and it has hdmi out which i use quite a lot ,which is not normally found on tablets of that price.
they do have a common fault with the charger port which even i managed to change for a replacement found on ebay for a couple of quid.
in fact if its discontinued i may look for another second hand one just in case
