Was a strange one going in this morning, my commute heads across a mile of flat hilltop and there was no noticeable wind up there. However, about 50m from the edge of this plain, the wind suddenly got up to (estimate) about 15mph and it was in my face for the last 4 miles of the commute.

Blew me home like a good'un, though. I beat my previous fastest of 39 minutes by getting home in just 32 minutes!

90mph forecast for tomorrow here

I think I'd sit that one out cycling wise!

The wind had got to me today as well (local weather station says 26mph with 39mph gusts) and was blowing straight off the sea at me which wasn't fun.

At least I got a pretty good tailwind on the way home though. Now for 60-70mph gusts tomorrow

Blimey!

The forecast for the morning is 4 degrees, sunny and 7mph south westerlies here in sunny Berkshire, with it rising to 8 degrees and a 15mph tail wind pushing me home.

Which is nice.

The forecast appears to have been... well, as good as you'd expect with temperatures at 0 and no wind at all this morning. It's picked up already, though, I'll get a spinnaker rigged up for the ride home.

Forecast here is for 20-25mph winds later tonight when I would be riding home, almost decided it's too much and am going in car.
But looking outside now it's gorgeous and would be criminal to drive in when the sun is shining

Dare say I'll regret it later, especially with almost 120 miles done this week already and legs feeling like lead

Windy on the way in but not too bad, then I had to go to a meeting off site and go back at 3pm. Riding the exposed downhill road to the main gate (straight at the sea) I was in my normal uphill gear and had my chin just about resting on the stem.

On the way home though - WOW. I could get used to 37-50mph tail winds

Aaaargh...bloody wind. Nearly wiped out today.. I was here, pretty much where the cyclist is on the streetview then a second later I was in the bus lane roughly where the wing mirror of the first black car is - there was a car trying to whizz down the bus lane behind too.

Then turning right at the RAB onto Upper Hanover St and Hanover Way, at hometime rush hour if I go that way I normally take the offside lane and do 30-32 down the outside lane, just about running out of gears, with traffic, as I need to be turning right at the later RAB - tonight was middle ring and middle sprocket heading downhill into the wind.

I had half a mind to do a scenic detour leaving work until I rode out of the car park and into the wind for the first time - I thought the Peak District could bloody well wait.

Blown to work this morning in a breezy sort of way ,coming back was a massive battle ,wind in front and from the near side at junctions with driving rain glad i got home in one piece though soaked to the skin ..It's meant to be worse tomorrow

I had strong-ish headwinds all the way into work this morning at around 7 to 7-30 in the morning. This was followed by scary crosswinds and beastly headwinds on the way back from 4-3pm onwards. I was being pushed all over the place on the exposed sections of the A51 and it must have took me twice as long to get to the crossroads with the A534. I was knackered out by the time I got to the Sainsburys in Nantwich so I stopped off there and had some food and did some grocery shopping before completing my journey back to Crewe with a nice tailwind all the way up Middlewich road and down West street.

The forecast isn't looking too good for tomorrow so I will be giving it a miss, even though I am dying to try out my new Carradice saddlebag and support. I need to catch a train tomorrow and I can get to the station direct by bus without going home by bike to collect my stuff. That is my excuse for not being a total wuss

Well that was a 'fun' ride home, 26mph winds that didn't know which direction to blow from. One minute it was a headwind the next it was blowing me into the kerb!!
Oh and it rained too
